At Home with Amazon

As we spend more time at home, maintaining a routine can be difficult, but with the help of your Amazon Devices, you can stay healthy, entertained and productive throughout the day – just by asking Alexa. Digital Lifestyle Expert Mario Armstrong teamed up with Amazon Devices to take us through a typical day.

Starting in the morning, it’s easy to set up custom Routines in the Alexa App, so you can start and end each day the same way. With the Echo Dot with Clock, it’s easy to customize your “Good Morning” routine. All you need to say when you wake up is “Alexa, Good Morning” and Alexa will start your Routine with your connected devices. For example, a routine could have Alexa turn smart light bulbs on at 50%, turn off the fan connected to an Amazon Smart Plug, and tell you the local weather. You can even ask Alexa to turn on your “Good Morning” playlist if you need an extra minute of motivation. If you like to end your day with a specific routine, you can also easily customize a “Good Night” routine in the app.

Now, to get productive while working at home, set up your Workday Routine, and just say – “Alexa, it’s time to work.” Alexa will recognize you’re ready to work and will brighten your Philips Hue lightbulbs to your preferred level, give you calendar reminders and notifications, and even an inspirational quote to keep you motivated throughout the day.

For busy at-home parents, keep the kids engaged and learning while you’re working – with the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet, they’ll be able to access specially curated educational content. Parents also have access to Amazon FreeTime and FreeTime Unlimited, which features parental controls to determine what content your child sees, the ability to create educational goals, and even set time limits by activity.

After you accomplish your to-do lists for the day, it’s time to take care of you. With a few tips and tricks, Alexa is a huge help when it comes to food, fitness and fun. With your Fire TV Stick 4K, ask Alexa for workouts like yoga or the Peloton app, easy classes from YouTube, or if you’re not ready to workout, get show recommendations for content from Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, HBO, and more – just by using your voice.

And if you get hungry, use your Echo Show device in the kitchen and say “Alexa, open Food Network Kitchen” to check out tons of delicious recipes with some of your favorite Food Network talent. Plus, you can even take a cooking class to perfect your skills!
